PUSSY. An ongoing performative research.

This performance is not just about pussy. But it‘s all about pussy.

Can we use our pussies as a tool to defy the current world order? It’s 2018, and pussy is still a central site of discrimination against women – whether through child-bearing and motherhood or through presenting the feminine as sexual objects/subjects, or other means. Have a pussy and you will inevitably experience discrimination. This in mind, this performance asks: should we centralize our pussies and utilize them to form a resistance? or perhaps we should de-centralize our pussies in resistance, in hopes that this de-centralization would decrease the level through which we’re essentialized as women?

Inspired by Carolee Schneemann’s ‘Interior Scroll’ and by thai ping pong shows, the presentation is a raw, intimate anti-performance. It mashes up some lecture-performance-style texts along with a very naked body, punk-diy choreography, lipstick, christmas lights, live music, serving in drag, and of course – pussy.

PUSSY. AN ONGOING PERFORMANTIVE RESEARCH features 2 songs co-written by myself and Hanno Stecher, aka Kalpour. It was created with the gratuitous input of Kathy Ann Tan, and with the help of a residency at Betonest, Germany.

PUSSY. AN ONGOING PERFORMANTIVE RESEARCH premiered at the 10th Berlin Biennale at the MasturBar events program, curated by Fabiana Faleiros, and received much love emotional positive feedback from the from the generous audience.

I’m currently looking for more places to show it.
More material – coming up.
